The Situation
Born and bred in Argentina, Marcelo Kreindelarrived in the US with a dream of building aworld-class business. He started Trentino Gelato in 2006. However, on the way to a bigger stage, local markets must first beconquered. And therein lay the challenge! While Marcelo knew how to make a superior gelato, doing so efficiently and navigating theins and outs of retail were proving more elusive. Enter TMAC Gulf Coast.
The Solution
Trentino had to share their real estate with another business. This resulted in an inefficient floor lay out and hampered productivity. TMAC-GC helped implement 5S systems to improve manufacturing processes. By applying 5S steps (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain) a safe and organized workplace was created making it easier for people to do their jobs. In addition, TMAC-GC’s years of success in the food industry offered Trentino a wealth of knowledge about penetrating markets, merchandising product, and manufacturing for scale. Using this new found knowledge,Trentino was able to revamp their line and distribution. With improved production and keen insight on market needs, they embarked on landing local and national accounts with renewed confidence.
The Results
By finishing in the top 25 in H-E-B’s Primo Picks Quest, Trentino was able to capture the interest of H-E-B Supermarkets and is now one of their approved vendors. IN ADDITION, DESPITE GROWTH’S DEMANDS ON CASHFLOW, PROFITS ROSE OVER 10%. LONG TERM PLANS ARE IN THE WORKS FOR A NEW FACILITY TO ENABLE ACCELERATED GROWTH.
